Optical Systems Engineer (m/f/d)
Your tasks
We are currently seeking a full-time Optical Systems Engineer (m/f/d) for a permanent position.
- You will be responsible for installing network technology and optical equipment at our customers' sites. You will independently perform OTDR measurements and assist with the analysis and troubleshooting of issues in fiber-optic and transport networks.
- You implement changes in complex network environments reliably and in accordance with existing operational processes.
- Through maintenance and service calls, you ensure the stable and smooth operation of customer networks.
- Working closely with internal departments, customers, and manufacturers, you will provide support in addressing technical issues and challenges.
- You analyze network issues in a structured manner, identify the causes of errors, and develop sustainable solutions.
- You will reproduce and resolve technical issues either independently or in coordination with customers and manufacturers.
- You'll actively contribute your expertise to exciting client projects and provide support for implementations, migrations, and rollouts.
- Participation in XTAC and on-call duty is subject to a corresponding agreement.
Your profile
- You have a good understanding of CWDM and DWDM technologies.
- Ideally, you will have some prior knowledge of fiber-optic technology and PON architectures.
- Experience in the FTTx field, particularly with Nokia ISAM or Lightspan, is a plus.
- You are familiar with using measuring instruments such as OTDRs or spectrum analyzers, or you are willing to learn how to use them.
- You stand out for your technical understanding, manual dexterity, and solution-oriented approach to work.
- Manufacturer certifications—for example, from Nokia, Infinera, or Ciena—are a plus, but not a requirement.
- You are fluent in German and English, both verbally and in writing.
- Customer focus, team spirit, and a professional demeanor come naturally to you.
- In addition, you must be willing to travel regularly to customer sites.
